The Special Needs class meets every Sunday at 9:15 & 10:45 am in the Special Needs Room, on 2 2nd floor of the gym area. We exclusive classrooms, for children ages 3 years to 6th grade where a buddy volunteers to interact with the child. We take the "hands-on" approach to teaching and learning. A buddy system is also available for a child to have a volunteer with them in the typical classroom, but needs to be prearranged.
In our exclusive classrooms we offer a safe environment for children; we strive for 1:1 ratio. A buddy assists the child during song time, Bible time, crafts, and play time.
A medical team member is available while a special needs event is taking place, including Sundays (does not include the support group); in case a medical emergency arises.
Other Opportunities
Special Moms - Special Kids is a Christian - based support group for moms of children with special needs, which meets the second Monday of every month from 6:30-8:00pm. Free child care for your special needs child only. Various guest speakers present educational and religious information and Bible studies. VBS is an outreach ministry that we feel is important for everyone. There is an exclusive class available for VBS every year.
The month of October is for our Disability Awareness Event. Each year we hold an event to reach out to special needs families.
"RELIEF Nite!" is an evening offered to families with special needs children four times a year. It stands for R:est E:ncouragement L:ove I:nspiration E:vangelism F:aith. It is a free night for parents to drop off their children for a fun night of activities. The time is from 5:30 - 8 pm. Respite is offered based on availability. Attendees of FCCN and SMSK have priority reservations. Call for dates.
